Sam Milhone - Low Voltage Technician

SamMilhoneSam has worked in the District as the Low-Voltage Tech for the past 4 years. He has a very positive attitude and is willing to do whatever is asked of him. This exemplifies the supporting of education. In the past 4 years, Sam has single-handedly wired and tagged DMS, DPS and the Administration Building with over 75,000 feet of wire, as well as installed over 100 smart boards and projectors. At times Sam has been asked to deliver mail, help with snow removal, trouble-shoot phone problems and even work at night to not disrupt the classrooms. Sam once shared with me that he heard a DPS student ask a teacher what Sam looked like because all they ever saw was the bottom half of him. The other half was always up in the ceiling. Sam will be leaving us in November to retire in Utah. He will be greatly missed and his efforts here will always be appreciated.

Sheryl Tipton - DIS Food Service

s.tipton_picIn the movie "Castaway" Tom Hanks finds himself on a deserted Island. He is stranded on this Island for many months and struggles to find a way off.

Due to its location from the main kitchen, Nutrition Services tends to look at the DIS kitchen as its "OWN ISLAND".

However, Sheryl has been perfectly content to live on this Island. She has been there for over 14 years. And unlike the movie's island, her island is inhabited with over 375 little people that she gladly meets, greets and feeds every day.

Sheryl does an outstanding job serving. She also makes breakfast and lunchtime enjoyable for all of the inhabitants of DIS.

Thank you Sheryl, for your years of service, dedication, and for a job well done.

Heidi Rich - Douglas Primary School

Heidi_RichHeidi serves as the secretary within the Primary School.  Not only does she answer phones, process all classroom orders, reply to countless emails, write and deliver student notes, and help to ensure all students get home safely each day – but she creates a warm and welcoming environment for our students, parents and community members that attend or visit our school.  The office is the hub in the Primary School – Heidi meets and greets this challenge with a smile on her face and a positive attitude on a daily basis.  She knows every student by name, who their teacher is, and even more importantly what their after school travels arrangements are.  With the influx of the many new staff members and principal – Heidi has been extremely helpful and diligent in making sure that each individual who joined the DPS team has felt welcomed and comfortable in his or her new setting.  Even with the many tasks that occur each and every moment within the office – Heidi always makes each individual feel like a priority – she is phenomenal!
